><segment>2060</segment><segment>https://doi.org/10.53762/grjnst.04.02.11</segment><segment>G.</segment><segment>2060</segment><segment>Page</segment><segment>3</segment><segment>consuming</segment><segment>as</segment><segment>well</segment><segment>as</segment><segment>limited</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>study</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>complex</segment><segment>material</segment><segment>systems.</segment><segment>In</segment><segment>this</segment><segment>regard,</segment><segment>computational</segment><segment>techniques,</segment><segment>especially</segment><segment>Density</segment><segment>Functional</segment><segment>Theory</segment><segment>(DFT)</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>become</segment><segment>effective</segment><segment>predictive</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>design</segment><segment>tools</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>down</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>atomic</segment><segment>level.</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>allowed</segment><segment>scientists</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>explore</segment><segment>electronic</segment><segment>structure,</segment><segment>total</segment><segment>energy,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>material</segment><segment>stability,</segment><segment>thus,</segment><segment>paving</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>way</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>rapid</segment><segment>creation</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>are</segment><segment>energy-efficient</segment><segment>(Liu</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2024;</segment><segment>Zhang</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2019).</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>now</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>standard</segment><segment>method</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>computational</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>science</segment><segment>because</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>its</segment><segment>tradeoff</segment><segment>between</segment><segment>computational</segment><segment>efficiency</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>predictive</segment><segment>accuracy.</segment><segment>Its</segment><segment>usage</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>been</segment><segment>extensive</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>study</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>semiconductors,</segment><segment>nanomaterials,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>storage</segment><segment>systems,</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>which</segment><segment>electronic</segment><segment>properties</segment><segment>like</segment><segment>band</segment><segment>gap</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>density</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>states</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>important.</segment><segment>These</segment><segment>properties</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>enabled</segment><segment>scientists</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>fabricate</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>customized</segment><segment>characteristics</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>use</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>solar</segment><segment>cells,</segment><segment>batteries,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>catalytic</segment><segment>systems</segment><segment>(Sharma</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2019;</segment><segment>Wang</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2023).</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>recent</segment><segment>development</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>computational</segment><segment>methods</segment><segment>has</segment><segment>also</segment><segment>improved</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>DFT.</segment><segment>Machine</segment><segment>learning</segment><segment>coupled</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>first-principles</segment><segment>calculations</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>already</segment><segment>able</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>screen</segment><segment>thousands</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>shortest</segment><segment>duration</segment><segment>possible,</segment><segment>decreasing</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>time</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>discover</segment><segment>considerably.</segment><segment>Such</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>hybrid</segment><segment>style</segment><segment>has</segment><segment>already</segment><segment>been</segment><segment>shown</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>be</segment><segment>especially</segment><segment> d</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>represent</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>behavior</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>at</segment><segment>different</segment><segment>physical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>chemical</segment><segment>conditions.</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>also</segment><segment>been</segment><segment>applied,</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>battery</segment><segment>research,</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>find</segment><segment>ion</segment><segment>diffusion</segment><segment>routes,</segment><segment>electrode</segment><segment>potential,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>adsorption</segment><segment>energies,</segment><segment>which</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>essential</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>enhancing</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>storage</segment><segment>performance.</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>knowledge</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>led</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>production</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>high-performance</segment><segment>electrode</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>high</segment><segment>capacity</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>stable</segment><segment>(Sharma</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2019;</segment><segment>Wang</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2023).</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>been</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>great</segment><segment>importance</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>study</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>catalytic</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>conversion</segment><segment>process</segment><segment>like</segment><segment>hydrogen</segment><segment>evolution</segment><segment>reaction</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>oxygen</segment><segment>reduction</segment><segment>reaction.</segment><segment>Through</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>study</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>reaction</segment><segment>mechanisms</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>barriers,</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>enabled</segment><segment>scientists</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>discover</segment><segment>active</segment><segment>catalytic</segment><segment>sites</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>optimize</segment><segment>material</segment><segment>composition.</segment><segment>This</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>also</segment><segment>led</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>creation</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>efficient</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>economical</segment><segment>catalysts</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>renewable</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>systems</segment><segment>(Zhang</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2019;</segment><segment>Hendy</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2025).</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>optical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>electronic</segment><segment>properties</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>state-of-the-art</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>like</segment><segment>perovskites</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>metal</segment><segment>oxides</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>already</segment><segment>studied</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>DFT.</segment><segment>These</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>demonstrated</segment><segment>good</segment><segment>potential</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>photovoltaic</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>photocatalytic</segment><segment>uses</segment><segment>since</segment><segment>they</segment><segment>exhibit</segment><segment>tunable</segment><segment>band</segment><segment>gaps</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>high</segment><segment>absorption</segment><segment>efficiency.</segment><segment>DFT</segment><segment>predictive</segment><segment>reliability</segment><segment>had</segment><segment>made</segment><segment>significant</segment><segment>theoretical</segment><segment>support</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>design</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>next-</segment><segment>generation</segment><segment>energy</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>(Boran</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>Kara,</segment><segment>2024;</segment><segment>Liu</segment><segment>et</segment><segment>al.,</segment><segment>2024).</segment><segment>GRJNST,</segment><segment>Volume:</segment><s
