ent><segment>2049</segment><segment>Page</segment><segment>2</segment><segment>Abstract:</segment><segment>Concrete</segment><segment>is</segment><segment>one</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>most</segment><segment>common</segment><segment>building</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>world.</segment><segment>It</segment><segment>has</segment><segment>great</segment><segment>compressive</segment><segment>strength,</segment><segment>but</segment><segment>it</segment><segment>is</segment><segment>not</segment><segment>very</segment><segment>durable</segment><segment>or</segment><segment>sustainable</segment><segment>because</segment><segment>it</segment><segment>relies</segment><segment>on</segment><segment>ordinary</segment><segment>Portland</segment><segment>cement</segment><segment>(OPC).</segment><segment>Ground</segment><segment>Granulated</segment><segment>Blast</segment><segment>Furnace</segment><segment>Slag</segment><segment>(GGBS),</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>by-</segment><segment>product</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>steel</segment><segment>industry,</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>used</segment><segment>as</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>partial</segment><segment>replacement</segment><segment>for</segment><segment>Ordinary</segment><segment>Portland</segment><segment>Cement</segment><segment>(OPC)</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>improve</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>mechanical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>concrete.</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>mass</segment><segment>proportions</segment><segment>for</segment><segment>replacing</segment><segment>cement</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>concrete</segment><segment>mixes</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>0%,</segment><segment>10%,</segment><segment>20%,</segment><segment>30%,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>40%.</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>mix</segment><segment>ratio</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>1:1.5:3,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>water-to-cement</segment><segment>ratio</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>0.45.</segment><segment>Mechanical</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>tested</segment><segment>by</segment><segment>measuring</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>compressive</segment><segment>strength,</segment><segment>split</segment><segment>tensile</segment><segment>strength,</segment><segment>flexural</segment><segment>strength,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>surface</segment><segment>hardness</segment><segment>(using</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>rebound</segment><segment>hammer</segment><segment>test).</segment><segment>For</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>carbonation</segment><segment>depth</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>water</segment><segment>permeability</segment><segment>tests</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>conducted.</segment><segment>According</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>findings,</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>produced</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>highest</segment><segment>compressive,</segment><segment>tensile,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>flexural</segment><segment>strengths</segment><segment>when</segment><segment>20%</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>OPC</segment><segment>was</segment><segment>substituted.</segment><segment>It</segment><segment>also</segment><segment>improved</segment><segment>surface</segment><segment>hardness</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>decreased</segment><segment>permeability,</segment><segment>indicating</segment><segment>increased</segment><segment>durability.</segment><segment>Mechanical</segment><segment>strength,</segment><segment>resistance</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>carbonation,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>permeability</segment><segment>all</segment><segment>decreased</segment><segment>above</segment><segment>this</segment><segment>point.</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>results</segment><segment>validate</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>viability</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>employing</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>as</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>sustainable</segment><segment>binder,</segment><segment>which</segment><segment>lowers</segment><segment>CO2</segment><segment>emissions</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>cement</segment><segment>consumption</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>environmentally</segment><segment>friendly</segment><segment>building.</segment><segment>Keywords:</segment><segment>Concrete,</segment><segment>GGBS,</segment><segment>Suppl <segment>stressed</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>importance</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>striking</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>balance</segment><segment>between</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>trade-offs</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>environmental</segment><segment>benefits,</segment><segment>particularly</segment><segment>when</segment><segment>substituting</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>for</segment><segment>more</segment><segment>than</segment><segment>30%</segment><segment>OPC.</segment><segment>Many</segment><segment>other</segment><segment>have</segment><segment>investigated</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>mechanical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>concrete</segment><segment>by</segment><segment>adding</segment><segment>different</segment><segment>SCM</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>concrete</segment><segment>[7–9]</segment><segment>Detailed</segment><segment>studies</segment><segment>assessing</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>combined</segment><segment>mechanical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>properties,</segment><segment>particularly</segment><segment>under</segment><segment>standardized</segment><segment>curing</segment><segment>conditions,</segment><segment>are</segment><segment>still</segment><segment>scarce,</segment><segment>despite</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>fact</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>advantages</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>have</segment><segment>been</segment><segment>widely</segment><segment>publicized.</segment><segment>Numerous</segment><segment>earlier</segment><segment>studies</segment><segment>concentrate</segment><segment>on</segment><segment>mechanical</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>or</segment><segment>particular</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>metrics,</segment><segment>such</segment><segment>as</segment><segment>chloride</segment><segment>ingress</segment><segment>or</segment><segment>sulfate</segment><segment>resistance.</segment><segment>Furthermore,</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>majority</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>research</segment><segment>uses</segment><segment>materials</segment><segment>from</segment><segment>particular</segment><segment>geographical</segment><segment>areas,</segment><segment>which</segment><segment>makes</segment><segment>it</segment><segment>challenging</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>generalize</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>findings.</segment><segment>Regionally</segment><segment>based</segment><segment>studies</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>employ</segment><segment>locally</segment><segment>accessible</segment><segment>OPC,</segment><segment>aggregates,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>are</segment><segment>obviously</segment><segment>needed.</segment><segment>These</segment><segment>studies</segment><segment>should</segment><segment>provide</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>comprehensive</segment><segment>performance</segment><segment>evaluation</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>includes</segment><segment>slump,</segment><segment>compressive,</segment><segment>tensile,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>flexural</segment><segment>strength</segment><segment>in</segment><segment>addition</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>carbonation</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>permeability</segment><segment>resistance.</segment><segment>The</segment><segment>present</segment><segment>study</segment><segment>aims</segment><segment>to</segment><segment>bridge</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>research</segment><segment>gaps</segment><segment>identified</segment><segment>through</segment><segment>a</segment><segment>comprehensive</segment><segment>experimental</segment><segment>program</segment><segment>that</segment><segment>assesses</segment><segment>concrete</segment><segment>mixtures</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>partial</segment><segment>cement</segment><segment>replacement</segment><segment>with</segment><segment>GGBS.</segment><segment>Goals:</segment><segment>To</segment><segment>assess</segment><segment>the</segment><segment>influence</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>varying</segment><segment>percentages</segment><segment>of</segment><segment>GGBS</segment><segment>replacement</segment><segment>(10%,</segment><segment>20%,</segment><segment>30%,</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>40%)</segment><segment>on</segment><segment>various</segment><segment>test</segment><segment>parameters</segment><segment>including</segment><segment>mechanical</segment><segment>and</segment><segment>durability</segment><segment>were</segment><segment>evaluated.</segment><segment>To</segment><segment>determine</segment><segmen
